The Arunachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board, A Statutory Body, Govt Of Arunachal Pradesh Was Established Under Act No.5 Of 1989 With Significant Objectives To Promote Khadi & Rural Industries Within The State Of Arunachal Pradesh.
Vision And Objectives Of Apkvib
To plan, Promote, and implement the development of Khadi and village industries at the state level, primarily focusing on rural employment generation, self -reliance, and the production of salable goods. APKVIB specifically aim to empower weaker sections, utilize local resources, and provide financial assistance to rural artisans and institutions.

Functions Of Apkvib
PMEGP
Arunachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board (APKVIB) plays a key role as one of the primaries implementing agencies for the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in Arunachal Pradesh. Along with KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) and DICs (District Industries Centres), APKVIB is responsible for implementing this creditlinked subsidy scheme to foster selfemployment through micro-enterprises in rural areas
Bee Keeping
Beekeeping in Arunachal Pradesh is rapidly evolving from traditional methods to scientific, commercial apiculture to boost rural livelihoods. Key initiatives include training farmers in scientific apiary management and fostering collaborations with the ITBP for border area development.
Outreach Workshop
As APKVIB have given training workshop on Beekeeping, PMEGP, Weaving in entire Arunachal Pradesh. A training workshop is an interactive, actionoriented session designed to build specific skills or knowledge within a group, often focusing on self-directed learning, practical application, and active participation rather than passive lecturing. Key elements include defining clear learning objectives, using interactive techniques, managing time efficiently, and facilitating collaboration among participants.
Handloom & Weaving
The Arunachal Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board (APKVIB) actively support the handloom and weaving sector in Arunachal Pradesh through financial assistance, infrastructure development, and marketing support, primarily under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and state-level initiatives.
Skilled Development training
The Arunachal Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board (APKVIB) undertake various skilled development training programs aimed at empowering rural artisans, unemployed youth, and women by promoting entrepreneurship in Khadi and village industries. These programs often align with the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to foster self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.
Cane and Bamboo Furniture
The Arunachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board promotes the production of ecofriendly cane and bamboo furniture crafted by local artisans. These products combine traditional craftsmanship with modern designs, providing durable, lightweight, and sustainable furniture for homes and offices. The initiative generates employment opportunities in rural areas while preserving the rich cultural heritage and bamboo-based handicraft traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.
Training Programme
The Arunachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board regularly conducts training programmes to develop skills, promote entrepreneurship, and create self-employment opportunities among rural youth, artisans, and aspiring entrepreneurs. These programmes focus on capacity building, business management, product development, and sustainable livelihood generation, contributing to the socio-economic development of the state.
Eri and Muga Silk Activities
The Arunachal Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board promotes the development of Eri and Muga silk through training, production, and marketing support. These activities help preserve traditional sericulture practices, generate employment for rural communities, and enhance the income of local artisans and weavers. The Board encourages value addition and sustainable production of high-quality silk products.
PROBLEMS OF APKVIB
Salaries and Wages:- Irregular in Salaries due to Plan Head (Grants-In-Aids)
Salaries & Wages to be Change into Non-Plan Head.
Separate Head of Accounts for APKVIB.
Lack of Proper Technical Know/How, Appointment of Consultant.
Only Salaries Funds are provided from State Government and no other Activities fund are sanctioned for Progress of APKVIB.

Reforms Required
(a) Chairman/Vice-Chairman and other Members Tenure is to be for 5 Years
(b) Chief Executive Officer to be the Member Secretary of the APKVIB.
